Melbourne’s fire protection products and services provider Fire Rating Solutions (FRS) is giving back to the community with their recent partnership with FareShare. FRS staff volunteered at FareShare’s Collingwood garden recently.

FRS believes in teaming with socially responsible organisations that make maximum impact in local communities. FRS paid to volunteer at the garden and the staff spent four hours there.

FRS specialises in the application of fire resistant sprays to structural steel beams and columns in buildings around Australia. They are skilled in the application of vermiculite fire spray. This spray is suitable for both internal and external use, as well as acoustic and heat applications.

The company also specialises in the installation and/or supply of passive fire protection products, advice, maintenance and annual compliance inspections. These passive protection requirements may vary from penetration fire sealing, PVC pipe penetration sealing, vermiculite spray, paint or an inspection of buildings. They also provide a large range of passive fire protection products and materials.

FRS staff will be volunteering at the FareShare kitchen in the future too. FRS uses these opportunities to also promote team building through fun-filled and satisfying activities in the community. FareShare is a charity that relies on partnerships with philanthropic foundations, businesses and individual donors to rescue food and cook meals.

FareShare rescues food that would otherwise go to waste and cooks it into free nutritious meals for people in need. Around four million Australians experience food insecurity each year while as much as $20 billion worth of food is wasted. FareShare tackles the tragedy head on by rescuing surplus, quality food from supermarkets, wholesalers, farmers and other businesses and cooking it into nutritious meals.

InMelbourne, with the help of 900 regular volunteers, FareShare cooks more than 5,500 free meals a day for charities such as soup vans, homeless shelters, women’s refuges and community food banks. FareShare helps avoid food waste and diverts surplus, edible food from landfill. This reduces greenhouse pollution and ensures food produced for humans reaches those who need it most.
