The team at Fire Rating Solutions are proud to be regular volunteers at FareShare, helping cook meals for those in need. FareShare is a wonderful organisation that rescues surplus food to cook free, nutritious meals for people doing it tough.
It’s amazing what can be achieved by a team of willing people in a few hours. The FRS team helped produce 1,500 delicious and nutritious vegetable rolls in 4 hours!
FareShare tackles hunger in our community by rescuing surplus, quality food from supermarkets, wholesalers, farmers and other businesses and cooking it into nutritious meals. They make every meal count – by being as nutritious as possible because they know it may be the only meal of the day for the person who receives it. On average, a FareShare meal contains over 65 per cent of the recommended daily intake of vegetables and more than 51 per cent of the recommended daily intake of meat.
In Melbourne, with the help of 1000 regular volunteers, FareShare cooks more than 6,000 free meals a day for charities such as soup vans, homeless shelters, women’s refuges and community food banks. FRS is so proud to be part of the regular army of volunteers willing to pitch in for a few hours to do much needed good.
The FareShare organisation relies on the generosity of philanthropic foundations, businesses and individual donors to rescue food and cook meals.
