The FRS team were engaged to help solve a fire rating problem at the new Olderfleet 40-storey tower at 477 Collins Street, Melbourne. A Mirvac project due for completion this year, an issue had arisen where a number of large storm water pipes were passing through two separate fire compartments. The large size of these penetrations and the angles at which the pipes had been run meant that the usual approach of fitting fire collars was impossible.
FRS designed a complete solution for each area using Speedpanel in steel frame supports, which we further protected with Promat fire board. Situated within a Loading Dock and a Bin Room, these fire compartments are now fully protected and compliant with the penetrating pipe works fully enclosed the within Speedpanel walls. Now up to code, this design provided a fast and effective solution.
FRS is proud to be associated with this stunning building. Olderfleet is a new 58,000 square metre, 40-storey premium office tower due for completion in 2020. It one of Australia’s most impressive commercial developments with its much loved Victorian heritage façade through to the stunning glass tower.
