FRS has recently completed an intricate fire board project at HMAS Cerberus naval base working with our colleagues at Casello. This work was part of extensive redevelopment works in the Circulation and Practical Training areas of the new Building 735 being constructed at this important site.

Our work involved the protection of 9 steel columns, all complex in their design and approx. 9 metres high. We utilised Promatect P250 Fire Boards in varying thicknesses to fire rate these steel columns and the connecting members supporting the roof framing above with a result that looks neat and providing 2-hour fire rating.

HMAS Cerberus is located 70km from Melbourne on the Mornington Peninsula near Crib Point on Hanns Inlet. It is the Navy’s primary training facility, and a pivotal piece of infrastructure for the Australian Defence Force. The current redevelopment is to ensure that the base remains fit-for-purpose until at least 2030, and is being carried out without disrupting normal training programs and activities.
