Fire pillows are an efficient and quick method for sealing various service penetrations through walls, slabs or floors. The fire pillows we use are made from quality, water repellent, cloth envelopes enclosing a high temperature fire resistant granulated material. They can provide permanent protection from the spread of fire, but they are particularly useful when only temporary protection is required, eg where future cabling or services require regular access. Fire pillows are a low cost, yet effective, method of fire sealing. They are simple to install requiring minimum labour and can be removed and re-used if services need relocation. Normal installation of fire pillows involves laying in courses to completely fill the penetrations. When required to, provide for adequate overlap, the smaller sized pillows may be used at the end of each layer of pillows. Fire pillows allow for up to 3 hours protection and have been successfully tested and assessed by independent laboratories to meet the requirements of AS 1530: Part 4. They come in three convenient sizes:

Fire mortar can be trowelled into position for sealing openings made through walls, slabs or floor for cables, metal pipes and other services. In the event of a fire, fire mortar can prevent the spread of fire and smoke from one compartment to another. This fire mortar has been successfully tested and assessed to BS 476: Part 20 and AS4072: Part 4 and AS 4072: Part 1 for fire ratings up to 4 hours. Available in a pre-mixed 20kg bag. Fire Strip - Seals for Movement Joints in Floors/Walls
FIRE STRIP
Fire Strip is an efficient and quick method for sealing large high movement joints in walls or floors. The fire strip we use is a compressible, flexible and provides a fire resistant seal which is ideal for use where movement joints are formed in the structure of a building. The fire strip consists of layers of intumescent material bonded to special foam. It has been successfully fire tested up to 4 hours in joints within masonry walls and floors. Fire strip is ideal for sealing movement joints at junctions between compartment walls and floors. Fire strips flexibility makes them suitable for use in a variety of configurations. Installation involves simply compressing one end between the thumb and fingers until it can be inserted into the required gap. The fire strip can then be progressively pushed into the gap, or if difficult, can be knocked into place with a hammer handle, rubber mallet or by placing a piece of timber along the length and knocking the timber. If a smoke or water seal is required, fire strip may have a suitable sealant applied according to the manufacturers instructions after installation. The strip is easily cut to size. Available in the following thicknesses: 28mm, 46mm, 56mm, 84mm, 124mm. All Fire Strips are 1000mm long. IBS Fire Foam Strip Penetration Seals on Floors/Walls
IBS FOAM STRIP
IBS foam strip is a flexible fire resistant backing rod for sealing joints and gaps plus ideal at sealing various services that require movement. This product is ideal for use around pipes, cables and ducts through masonry, plaster walls or floors and movement joints eg as a fire resistant wrap around pipes that require movement due to hot and cold contractions. IBS foam strip is coloured for ease of identification and is easy to install by compressing and inserting it into the joint or gap. The addition of sealant is optional. IBS foam strip is of particular use where the size of the opening around services would result in the slumping of a sealant. It forms a slip joint at the service penetration so that when services move, the integrity of the opening is maintained. This is unlike many solid barriers where cracking can occur due to movement. Depending on the type of installation, IBS fire strip can provide up to 4 hours protection. Available in the following sizes: Round - 16mm, 22mm, 29mm, 38mm. Rectangular - 100mm x 10mm, 50mm x 20mm. They have been successfully tested and assessed to provide up to 4 hours fire resistance by independent laboratories. Retro fit collars Retro fit collars are ideal for fitting around plastic pipes that are already installed in the structure. These provide an efficient and quick method for sealing plastic pipe penetrations through walls or floors. Available in various sizes between 40mm to 300mm (internal diameter) Cast-In collars Cast-In collars are installed during the building process, eg: your plumber can cast these into concrete slab pours in the correct position to enable later fitting-off of the pipework. Available in various sizes between 40mm to 150mm (internal diameter) Wall collars Wall collars are ideal for fitting around plastic pipes that are already installed in the wall.
